School Holiday Programme: “SUPERHERO CAMP” by Discovery House

We are pleased to introduce the “Superhero Camp” to your children. This camp is conducted by facilitators from Discovery House. Discovery House is a Kids Leadership Training Centre that has reached out to more than 15,000 kids nationwide. Discovery House has conducted the MPH (Usbourne Children's Book Carnival), Smart Kids Convention (Stage Performance), Sunway Pyramid (Lost World School Holiday Programme), National Kids Leadership Convention, TV2 (Kids On 2), TV3 (Kids Voice Out) and many enrichment programmes in kindergartens.

The aim of this Superhero camp is to build a strong foundation for your kids to unleash the leadership potential in them.

This camp will empower your children to speak with confidence while they create a drama/play with creative props. This 5-day camp will enable children to

Build their CONFIDENCE.
Live their life with PRINCIPLES.
Be CREATIVE and think out of the box.
Learn about GOAL SETTING
Work in a TEAM and Values friendship.
Care and RESPECT others.

Date: 28 May – 1 June 2012 (Mon - Fri)

Time: 9.00am – 12.30pm

Venue: Q-dees Taman Desa (New Centre)

(No 94, Jalan Desa Maju, Taman Desa)

Age group: 4 – 12 years old

The cost of the camp is RM175.00 (inclusive of all the materials for the camp. Snacks will be provided). Transportation service can be arranged.

Seats are limited. If you wish to enroll your child for the camp, kindly fill up the enrolment form at the School office together with cash payment or a crossed cheque made payable to TADIKA DESA before 25 May 2012.

Day 1 : TEAM VISION

Ice-breaking will be done through formation of team. Here kids will set up team name, team flag, team cheer and team vision. There will be teamwork games conducted:-

Shark Attack
Passing the Bomb
Neighbourhood game

Day 2 : TEAMWORK

Children will go through obstacles games. Children will learn values such as Win-win, Sharing, Communication skills and Listening skills. Kids will be given the “Mission impossible” as homework. Games that will be conducted include:

River Crossing challenge
Roller coaster game
Friendship game

Day 3 : CONFIDENCE

Communication workshop: - children will be taught about body language, tonality, focusing out and public speaking. Games related to this topic will be conducted.

Day 4 : GOAL SETTING

Children will do vision board, they will also do their own personal goal setting and there will be some games conducted related to Goal Setting.

Day 5 : SUPERHERO DAY

As a finale of the holiday camp, the facilitator will recap all the lessons with the children. The children will do short presentation to their parents.

TESTIMONIAL FOR TAMAN DESA Q-DEES

The Q-dees journey for both my daughters has been an exciting and fruitful experience. My first – Shereena Segura, when she first started was timid and shy. Getting her to attend classes for the first 3 months was a constant heartache to a mother as she was always crying and it seemed difficult for her to part from her comfort zone. However with the assistance of the caring and patient teachers, she slowly opened up and became a confident girl as she is today. My second – Jemima Rimiah, when she first started was lacking in confidence. As with my eldest, she was given equal attention, assistance and pastoral care from the experienced teachers. Indeed, spending their first 3 years in Q-dees has helped them with their confidence level and interpersonal skills.

Their years in Q-dees have kick-started their love for reading and learning. When Shereena entered school, she did not have to struggle for reading, writing and comprehension in English or Bahasa Malaysia as she was already well-trained in Q-dees. She coped well in her first two years of schooling. As for Jemima who will start Year 1 in 2016, we believe that she would be able to cope well too as like her sister. Without a doubt, Taman Desa Q-dees is a pre-school center that would continue to nurture young minds for many more years to come.

We would like to thank the dedicated principal and teachers of Taman Desa Q-dees for providing such a good platform for both Shereena and Jemima in their early years of education and we know it is definitely a place where we have etched sweet marks in our hearts and memories forever.

"It has been one year he studied in Q-dees Taman Desa in which we saw him enjoyed very much, making friends, developing himself and I believe having lots of fun times with the teachers and friends. Making him to know alphabets and numbers was previously a big challenge to us and Q-dees has accomplish it which I believe was in the best effort and patience of the teachers.

We would like to thank the teachers in Q-Dees Taman Desa for their dedication and patience with our children. When we transferred our older son, Aron (6-year old) from another kindergarten, he was struggling with Mandarin.

It was so difficult for Aron because we, his parents are not able to read or write in Mandarin. While we had already applied for him to attend Chong Wen primary school, we were planning to transfer him to a national school in Taman Desa.

But to our surprise, Aron had dramatically improved in his Mandarin within a month of attending Q-Dees Taman Desa Centre. Also, his class teacher had recommended excellent Mandarin computer aids, which helped us to continue teaching Aron.

Our younger son Amos (3-year old) seems to be a late developer in speech, so other kindergartens had suggested a play school for him. Because he cannot speak yet, he needed some help in going to the toilet.

Q-Dees accepted him and the teachers continued to help Amos even though he is slow in learning to speak. After less than a year, he has improved, including reading some words and pronouncing alphabets and numbers.

If we did not have the encouragement of the teachers, we would have just placed him in a play school which would have further slowed Amos’ development.
