Q-dees Taman Desa organised an Educational Trip to Istana Negara and the ARCH workshop at the KL City Gallery in Dataran Merdeka. 95 kids participated in this interesting and fun trip.

The former Istana Negara is the living place for Yang di Pertuan Agong Malaysia (King Malaysia). It is proudly located at Jalan lstana which is around 3km from Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC). The kids and teachers visited the various rooms at the former palace. The visit to the former palace gave the kids a better understanding and appreciation of their former kings.

Among the rooms open to the public are a small audience hall, the minister's room, the ambassador's room, dining room, royal clinic, five royal bedrooms, personal dining rooms, laundry room, small throne room, Yang di- Pertuan Agong's office, Raja Permaisuri Agong's office and the reading room and reading room.

The kids then proceed to McDonald's for lunch before visiting the ARCH workshop at the KL City Gallery.

At the KL Gallery, the kids visited the ARCH workshop. The D-I-Y ( Do It Yourself ) workshop lets the kids experience for themselves the making of ARCH’s Made in Malaysia wood veneer gifts. The kids also visited the various types of series the Malaysian Heritage gifts and collectibles.

The kids also saw the biggest highlight of Kuala Lumpur City Gallery, which is the showcase of the largest masterpiece of Kuala Lumpur City Model, measuring a mega 40ft x 50ft! The miniature model showcases the present and future developments of Kuala Lumpur.

Saturday FunShop ! A Day of Understanding Our Children Better for Parents and their Children

Dear Parents

We are proud to bring you a monthly series of funshops hosted by Jana and Kitti exclusively at Q-dees Taman Desa. These funshops will vary in themes and be hosted on one Saturday every month to give parents a chance to bond with their children via fun activities.

For the Funshop organized for the month of March 2013, you are invited to a morning of personality profiling; a tool for understanding your child's personality in a deeper and more meaningful way. During this funshop, we will be using the DISC personality profiling tool to understand our children on a deeper level in order to work with them and set them up for success as parents.

NOTE: PARENTS MUST ATTEND WITH THEIR CHILDREN.

Hosted solely at Q-dees Taman Desa, this 3 hour funshop will include the following:

1. Brief introduction of DISC by Kitti;

2. Kids fill out the DISC personality profiling tool (with parental support);

3. Kids and parents have a break while Kitti / Jana processes the filled-out personality profile sheets;

4. Parents and children then receive a breakdown of the personality profile - discovering and understanding their child's strengths, leadership styles, weaknesses and tendencies. Parents will also learn how to work better WITH their child/ren instead of against them, and learn which communication methods work best for their child/ren;

5. Wrap up ! If the parents should have any questions about the DISC Profiling, we will be happy to stay 30 minutes after the FUNSHOP to answer any inquiries.

TESTIMONIAL FOR TAMAN DESA Q-DEES

The Q-dees journey for both my daughters has been an exciting and fruitful experience. My first – Shereena Segura, when she first started was timid and shy. Getting her to attend classes for the first 3 months was a constant heartache to a mother as she was always crying and it seemed difficult for her to part from her comfort zone. However with the assistance of the caring and patient teachers, she slowly opened up and became a confident girl as she is today. My second – Jemima Rimiah, when she first started was lacking in confidence. As with my eldest, she was given equal attention, assistance and pastoral care from the experienced teachers. Indeed, spending their first 3 years in Q-dees has helped them with their confidence level and interpersonal skills.

Their years in Q-dees have kick-started their love for reading and learning. When Shereena entered school, she did not have to struggle for reading, writing and comprehension in English or Bahasa Malaysia as she was already well-trained in Q-dees. She coped well in her first two years of schooling. As for Jemima who will start Year 1 in 2016, we believe that she would be able to cope well too as like her sister. Without a doubt, Taman Desa Q-dees is a pre-school center that would continue to nurture young minds for many more years to come.

We would like to thank the dedicated principal and teachers of Taman Desa Q-dees for providing such a good platform for both Shereena and Jemima in their early years of education and we know it is definitely a place where we have etched sweet marks in our hearts and memories forever.

"It has been one year he studied in Q-dees Taman Desa in which we saw him enjoyed very much, making friends, developing himself and I believe having lots of fun times with the teachers and friends. There have been a tremendous change to him that we saw when he studied in Q-dees in which he enjoyed so much. Making him to know alphabets and numbers was previously a big challenge to us and Q-dees has accomplish it which I believe was in the best effort and patience of the teachers.

We would like to thank the teachers in Q-Dees Taman Desa for their dedication and patience with our children. When we transferred our older son, Aron (6-year old) from another kindergarten, he was struggling with Mandarin.

It was so difficult for Aron because we, his parents are not able to read or write in Mandarin. While we had already applied for him to attend Chong Wen primary school, we were planning to transfer him to a national school in Taman Desa.

But to our surprise, Aron had dramatically improved in his Mandarin within a month of attending Q-Dees Taman Desa Centre. Also, his class teacher had recommended excellent Mandarin computer aids, which helped us to continue teaching Aron.

Our younger son Amos (3-year old) seems to be a late developer in speech, so other kindergartens had suggested a play school for him. Because he cannot speak yet, he needed some help in going to the toilet.

Q-Dees accepted him and the teachers continued to help Amos even though he is slow in learning to speak. After less than a year, he has improved, including reading some words and pronouncing alphabets and numbers.

If we did not have the encouragement of the teachers, we would have just placed him in a play school which would have further slowed Amos’ development.
